ISTEP+: It’s highly likely that you’ve been hearing a great deal more regarding the statewide ISTEP+ assessments than in previous years. If you’ve been trying to keep up with the latest, here is how the story impacts Holy Rosary and our students.
The length of the assessments has been reduced for the “Operational” Test sessions (meaning actual testing sessions, not practice tests) by approximately half. Holy Rosary 3rd through 8th graders have been participating in ISTEP+ practice tests this week in their classrooms. This week students will participate in the Operational ISTEP+ Tests in Math and English/Language Arts, and Science (fourth and sixth grades only). Fifth and seventh graders will not participate in the Social Studies assessment. All test sessions are scheduled in the mornings. Only make up testing or testing with accommodations will take place in the afternoons.
What do we ask of our students during ISTEP+? Give your best effort on each test and stay positive! (Every day of the year!) They have been learning and practicing strategies all year long and we know they can do this!
What do we ask of our parents? Please help your children get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and keep their routine simple and “normal”!
You can count on teachers to keep homework and projects at a minimum during this time, work hard to prepare and guide our students ,and to encourage them in their efforts!
May God bless all of our efforts at prayer, fasting and almsgiving this Lent, that we may grow closer to God each day.
God bless our Holy Rosary Family of Families!
For all His children,
Joan Fredrich ☺
